INJURY LATEST

IN-FORM Leicester ace Lasse Bjerre will miss Saturday’s home clash with Rye House after being advised to rest his injured knee.

Bjerre crashed in the Watling JCB Lions’ away defeat at Swindon before fighting through the pain barrier in their crushing home win over King’s Lynn last weekend.

But he aggravated his damaged ligaments in the process and will now take a short break from action whilst undergoing laser treatment in a bid to be back for next Wednesday’s trip to King’s Lynn.

No.1 Kim Nilsson is targeting a return in Monday’s clash with Somerset at the Oaktree Arena, live on BT Sport, after his lay-off with a broken arm.

Meanwhile, Polish hotshot Pawel Przedpelski remains sidelined after aggravating his injury riding for Torun on Sunday.

Przedpelski spent the meeting on crutches and is currently undergoing physio three times a week in a bid to be back as soon as possible.

Club bosses have secured the services of Australian duo Rory Schlein and Cameron Heeps to step in for Nilsson and Erik Riss, who is in SGB Championship action for Edinburgh, against Rye House on Saturday.

They are still working to secure a guest for Bjerre, whilst Kyle Newman will be fit to return from his foot injury.

And co-promoter Marc Bates is targeting their home clash with Belle Vue on Saturday, August 19 to finally get back to full strength.

Said Bates: “It’s a case of one step forwards, two steps back in many ways. We’ll be getting Kim and Kyle back soon, but then Lasse is ruled out and Pawel has had a setback.

“Hopefully by the Belle Vue meeting we’ll have our full team back, and we’re looking forward to it.”
